200 Years of Ohio Freemasonry
Bicentennal Lantern - Guidelines and Schedule
Guidelines

The Bicentennial Lantern will be presented to each Lodge in the Twenty-Second District.

The presentations will be made according to the schedule below.

When making the presentation to the next lodge on the schedule:

1. The representative of the presenting lodge will wait outside of the Lodge room until Lodge is opened.
2. Once it is opened, the Tyler will make an alarm and announce that a visitor would like admission.
3. The presenter will then be conducted West of the altar, carrying the lighted lantern, and be introduced.
4. The presenter will then read the following passage (which is printed on the card that accompanies the lantern) and present the Lantern to the Worshipful Master.

“From 1808 to 2008, the light of Freemasonry has spread across Ohio, being passed from pioneers to astronauts. As this Bicentennial Lantern is passed from Lodge to Lodge in our District, may the fraternal flame that it symbolizes glow even brighter. Brothers, I pass the light of Freemasonry to you and ask that you present this lantern to the next Lodge on the schedule.”

When requesting the Lantern for a special event at your Lodge:

1. Email your request to RWB Woodworth.
2. Upon confirmation from RWB Woodworth, the requesting Lodge must do the following:

a. The lodge who makes the request must pick up the lantern at the lodge where it is in the schedule AND take it to the next scheduled lodge.
b. The previous lodge will still make the presentation to the Lodge that is to receive it that evening.

3. The lantern will be available for pick up after the closing of the Inspection.
4. The lantern needs to be at the next Lodge prior to the opening of the Lodge.
